- American Booksellers Association: The American Booksellers Foundation (ABA) is the trade association for independent booksellers. Have an issue that doesn't relate to free speech? Check ABA's website or call your ABA regional manager.
- American Library Association Office for Intellectual Freedom: The American Library Association Office for Intellectual Freedom (ALA-OIF) implements ALA policies that concern the concept of intellectual freedom, as put forward in the Library Bill of Rights, the ALA's basic assertion of the rights of patrons to freely access libraries and library materials. ALA-OIF frequently works with ABFFE on letters opposing book censorship, privacy-related advocacy, and other related endeavors. ALA is, with ABFFE, a founding sponsor of Banned Books Week.
- Association of American Publishers: Association of American Publishers (AAP), a trade association for publishers, has many free expression-related groups and projects under its umbrella. AAP is a founding sponsor of Banned Books Week, for example.
- Banned Books Week: ABFFE, the American Booksellers Association, American Library Association, American Society of Journalists and Authors, National Association of College Stores, Association of American Publishers, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, National Coalition Against Censorship, National Council of Teachers of English, and PEN American Center all sponsor the official website of Banned Books Week, the only national (and even international) celebration of the freedom to read. Find resources, get tips and ideas, and join in the fun at bannedbooksweek.org.
- Campaign for Reader Privacy: The Campaign for Reader Privacy (CRP) was formed in 2004 in response to the passage of the USA Patriot Act in 2001, which eliminated safeguards for reader privacy. The CRP was instrumental in lobbying lawmakers to restore some protections for readers when Congress reauthorized the Patriot Act in 2005. Its members include the American Booksellers Association, American Library Association, Association of American Publishers, and PEN American Center.
- Comic Book Legal Defense Fund: If you sell comics or graphic novels in your store, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) works for you and your customers. CBLDF is devoted to protecting free expression in graphic novels, manga, and all forms of comics.
- First Amendment Center: For the latest news and commentary on First Amendment issues, visit the First Amendment Center (FAC). The FAC also runs the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
- Media Coalition: When the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) challenges a law or celebrates a legislative victory for booksellers, Media Coalition is usually responsible for some amount of the necessary work. ABFFE joins with other Media Coalition members to challenge laws, file amicus briefs, and oppose legislation in written memos. By no means is Media Coalition ABFFE's only collaborator, but it is one of our most frequent. Media Coalition defends the First Amendment rights of mainstream media creators, publishers, and retailers and their consumers.
- National Coalition Against Censorship: ABFFE works with the National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) on the Kids Right to Read Project and Banned Books Week, of which NCAC is a co-sponsor. NCAC is dedicated to opposing all forms of censorship through public education and advocacy, promoting awareness of censorship efforts, encouraging free thought and inquiry, empowering the public to oppose censorship, and assisting organizations and individuals in opposing efforts to restrict their free expression rights.
- National Council of Teachers of English: The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) co-sponsors Banned Books Week and often joins Kids Right to Read project letters in opposition to the removal of books from public school curricula and libraries. NCTE is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and language arts at all levels of education.
- PEN American Center: ABFFE works with PEN American Center (PAC) on Banned Books Week, of which it is a co-sponsor. PAC also frequently joins ABFFE on letters opposing book censorship and other threats to free expression. Its mission is to advocate for the rights of writers and readers at home and abroad.
- Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators: The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is the only nonprofit association dedicated to advancing the rights and interests of writers and illustrators of books for children and young adults - as well as writers working in television, film, magazines, and multimedia. SCBWI joins ABFFE in opposing censorship of children's books and young adult literature.
